Optimized Article for Quora and Blogger: The Manipulation of Religion and Art in Russian Military Propaganda

In recent years, Russia has intensified the use of religion and patriotism in its military propaganda. The slogan "We are Russians, God is with us!" has become a powerful ideological tool. Among the faces of this propaganda is Yaroslav Dronov, known by his stage name Shaman, a key figure in Russia’s military campaign against Ukraine.

Shaman: A Symbol of War and Propaganda

Since the beginning of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, Shaman has participated in numerous Kremlin-organized events, performing for both Russian armed forces and in the illegally occupied regions of Ukraine. His public role was further solidified in 2023 when he was chosen as a trusted representative of President Putin for the 2024 presidential elections.

However, his music has sparked controversy. His lyrics are filled with extreme nationalism and militarism, accompanied by an aesthetic reminiscent of past symbols, such as Hitler Youth and Third Reich fascism. His repertoire has raised questions about the connection between entertainment and ideological manipulation.

Religion as a Tool of Manipulation

At the same time, the Russian Orthodox Church, under the leadership of Patriarch Kirill (Vladimir Gundyaev), has played a crucial role in spreading military propaganda. Kirill has repeatedly used the mantra "God is with us," promoting the idea that the war is justified and blessed. During religious holidays, he emphasized the importance of faith for victory, attempting to legitimize military actions as acts of defending divine truth and justice.

A Long History of Religious Justifications

The use of religion to justify violence is nothing new. Historical and current photographs of high-ranking religious figures blessing soldiers for war raise profound questions. Jesus' pacifist message, "Those who live by the sword will die by the sword," seems to be forgotten, while the blessing of violence continues to prevail.

Conclusion

The use of religion and art to manipulate the masses is not only a Russian tactic but a global problem. However, the fusion of faith and war represents one of the most dangerous forms of propaganda. The final question we must ask ourselves is: what is the true face of the "God" that justifies these atrocities?

This reflection is explored further in the documentary *The IMPACT* and in Egon Cholakian’s video address, highlighting the consequences of propaganda that distorts religion for warlike purposes.
